The Invisible Capital
Personal Project, realized with Francesca Morini and Morendo Vendra
2018
The idea to make people aware of the amount and the type of personal data everybody shares with the companies in return for their services developed the project. It was led by the GDPR (General Data Protection and Regulation) release.
First, we selected the main platforms operating the data collection, then we counted the number of users they have. We focused on Facebook, Instagram, Google, Twitter, WhatsApp, Apple and Spotify. We downloaded and analysed the type of data they have, to study the data structure and its accuracy.
Then, we tried to explain and contextualize the GDPR introduction, building a time line and a visualization, which compares the steps required from each platform to download and delete data in compliance with the new regulation.
